Classification:Part-time (15-20 hours/week) Reports to:Program Director
Primary Function: Under the general supervision of the Program Director, the Esports Coach will develop and lead creative activities for youth of different ages in a trauma-sensitive environment. The Esports Coach will work with youthand teens on our platform, developing both their in-game skills as well as their social/emotional skills while also exploring and learning about the Esports industry.
Key Responsibilities: • Supervise all aspects of an Esports program, including instruction, coaching, and managing of teams. • Assist youth in becoming positive virtual citizens, teaching them important lessons about teamwork, leadership, and how to treat people properly online. • Develop and implement training curriculum (e.g., NASEF). • Manage and maintain all hardware, software and other equipment. • Schedule, organize, supervise, and conduct all practice sessions at the campus Esports lab. • Communicate with Program Director and staff about class schedules, program needs, objectives, etc. • Provide content for Club’s social media channels, sharing information about team, players and matches. • Help implement program assessment and evaluation through talking to students, participating in observations, administering surveys, and reflecting on teaching practice. • Provide guidance and role modeling to members. • Demonstrate leadership to assure conduct, safety and development of members. • Ensure productive and effective work environment. • Monitor program areas to ensure member safety. • May participate in special programs or events. • Attend and participate in special programs, events, meetings, and trainings as needed.
In addition to the specific professional job duties, must also possess the ability to: • Be passionate about working with kids! • Be dedicated to social justice & culturally responsive teaching. • Prior coaching, teaching, and/or counselor experience • Extensive knowledge of esports, including but not limited general strategies, team building, skill building, and competition strategies • Knowledge of middle and high school level esports rules and regulations • Strong organizational skills, especially regarding practice planning and managing the logistics of tournaments and league development • Ability to work collaboratively with youth and colleagues • Strong written and verbal communications skills • Must be able to organize and facilitate multiple practices per week
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
High School Diploma required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
At least one year’s experience in program planning/development in an Electronic Arts, Esports or similar environment.
Effectively use Microsoft Office.
Work effectively with volunteers, parents, school officials and other community members.
Represent the Club positively in the community.
Should be able to lift 25 pounds.
Ability to pass a DOJ fingerprint clearance
