What We Offer
The Alameda Boys & Girls Club believes that every child and teen has the potential to BE GREAT and deserves a chance at a GREAT FUTURE. Every day, our Youth Development Center opens its doors to all kids, ages 6-18, from all schools and backgrounds, every day and evening after school, on weekends and during school vacations, being the only facility in Alameda that provides this service.

We provide a skilled and caring staff, affordable, high-impact programs and first-class facilities in a safe and positive environment that promotes respect, responsibility and fun.

In our core programming, we supervise and administer programs in the following certified areas of youth development:
o Education & Career Development
o After-school Homework Help and Tutoring
o Teens, Character & Leadership
o Health & Life Skills
o STEM & Technology
o Gardening & Cooking
o Fine & Performing Arts
o Sports, Fitness & Recreation

We also provide on-site vision and respiratory clinics as well as small group counseling sessions for all youth. Participation in these programs and services improve the lives of our members as it teaches them the skills they need to achieve academic and professional success and also how to become confident, healthy and contributing members of society.

Finally, we enjoy a professional affiliation with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America; a national organization with headquarters in Los Angeles, California and Atlanta, Georgia.

IMPACT on our Youth
Alameda Boys & Girls Club prides itself on empowering youth to reach their full potential whether it is in leadership development; opportunities in education, arts, technology or sports; preparing for college; or volunteering in the community. Our youth development programs have a proven track-record of helping kids increase their grades; graduate from high school and move on to some form of higher education or job training; stay physically fit; and make healthier and socially responsible lifestyle choices.

Since 1949, we have changed the lives of over 75,000 children and last year we served just over 4,000 Alameda youth in a new, state-of-the-art Youth Development Center that provides a community resource facility for everyone in Alameda. Over 40% of members come from single parent households and over 70% come from economically-disadvantaged families. We turn no child or family away due to lack of funds.

Our reach extends even beyond our four walls as many other youth agencies and community partners collaborate with our organization so we may provide a larger impact on our youth members, ensuring that they receive the services they need most.

Youth Development Approach
Our staff, programs and services create stability, consistency and a sense of physical and emotional safety for our members. Our youth development professionals serve as positive role models who provide ongoing and caring relationships with our youth. They work to develop moral character and instill a sense of belonging, competence, usefulness and influence. Staff members make the Club feel like home, fostering a family atmosphere and creating a sense of ownership for members.

Our award-winning programs and services focus on the whole child. Our professional staff and volunteers help our members build strong character and skills that will last a lifetime. Our programs are fun, educational and recreational and the best part is that kids can select what they want to do each day once their homework is completed. We motivates our kids to return to tell their success stories and to give back to the community they call “home” by becoming mentors, coaches, volunteers, Board members and donors.
