Did you know that the Alameda Boys & Girls Club originally began in 1949? Our work took root when local businessman Leonard E. Lee decided to step up and help the young boys he saw playing in the street. Using his garage as a “clubhouse”, he began inviting the boys to participate in constructive and engaging activities, rechanneling their energy and curiosity into critical thinking and collaborative projects.
75 years later, and our remarkable staff supports hundreds of youth and teens in Alameda every week – young people who deserve the skill-building opportunities and positive mentorship they receive at our Club. Each day we serve our kids with the belief that Imagination Blooms HERE.
The purpose of the 75th Anniversary campaign from July 1, 2024 – June 30, 2025 is to engage the entire Alameda community in the year-long celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the founding of the Alameda Boys & Girls Club. We aim to highlight the achievements and celebrate the growth and success of the Club.
As we celebrate our anniversary, we have an ambitious goal: to raise $1,750,000 in giving to support our impactful and vital youth development programs offered at the Alameda Boys & Girls Club. Throughout this celebratory year, we will host community gatherings, youth events and giving campaigns to celebrate and grow our mission, vision and impact on our kids.
